Mortgage Help is available for eligible homeowners!
Monroe Bank & Trust is a community bank dedicated to strengthening our communities by focusing on the needs of our customers. With that as our goal, we want to alert our customers to a new mortgage assistance opportunity for eligible homeowners.
This program, called Help for Michigan's Hardest Hit Homeowner, is aimed to help homeowners who are at high risk of default or foreclosure.
The program is administered by the Michigan State Housing Development Authority (MSHDA). MSHDA has established an online application accessed through www.stepforwardmichigan.org.
Applications for those without internet access can be done through the MSHDA Call Center at 1-866-946-7432.
Eligibility for this program is determined by the State of Michigan pursuant to your application information. Your current loan servicer or originator does not determine your eligibility.
If you believe you are in danger of foreclosure, or if foreclosure proceedings have been initiated, apply now to determine if you qualify for assistance.
Features and Benefits
Assistance is divided into three distinct programs, depending upon which program best addresses your financial situation:
Mortgage payment assistance for homeowners currently receiving Michigan unemployment compensation.
Rescue funds for homeowners who have fallen behind in their mortgage payments or past due property tax payments due to no fault of their own.
Federal matching funds for principal reductions for homeowners who can no longer afford their mortgage payments as a result of reduced income.
